Jordan Jovtchev still training Print E-mail

I just got a note from Jordan Jovtchev. He is still training and plans to compete at this year's world championships. I'm planning on visiting him in Bulgaria sometime before the competition. And I might go there with him, in case he needs a drinking buddy... At the age of 36, it's amazing that he is still competing in one of the most physically demanding of all sports. And he has been training mostly without a coach for the last decade. I have had a chance to meet several of his past teammates and the one thing they consistently say about Jordan is how incredibly focused he was during training. The coaches didn't need to discipline him at all, because he was already his own harshest critic. Several of them said they tried to keep training solo, but couldn't do it. And another remarkable thing about Jordan is that he travels almost non-stop. Unlike athletes from China, and to a lesser extent the US, he has to compete for a living and do exhibitions to make ends meet. As a result, his training schedule is frequently interrupted. He is also now the president of the Bulgarian gymnastics federation. He's a busy guy, so it's amazing he has any room left for training.

I will post more as I hear from him.

Free UK and Canada Shipping Print E-mail

We recently started offering free shipping to our customers in the UK and Canada and have been able to slash shipping prices to our customers in Europe as well. How can we do this? We have opened up warehouses in both countries. This allows us to use local shipping services, so we can avoid international shipping fees and customs duties. For a set of rings, this saves about $30 for shipments to Canada and $40 for shipments to the UK. And it cuts the delivery time from 3 weeks to 1-6 days for Canada, 1-4 days for the UK and 3-7 days for Europe.

"Shipping and Taxes"

I've received a few e-mails from customers that have been confused about a charge they are seeing in the shopping cart. Even though we offer free shipping, we still have to charge the taxes levied by these countries. So, what you are seeing is the VAT or GST tax. Our shopping cart is not normally designed to support multiple warehouses around the work and the resulting tax implications. To get our cart to show the correct prices, we had to create a custom pricing algorithm that factors in the multiple warehouses. Because of that, we can't display the taxes and shipping costs separately. Right now, we're working on making some "tool tips" to put in the shopping cart next to this field to explain what it is. But it has created some confusion, so hopefully this post will explain what's going on. We've been accused by a few people of being dishonest, but we're actually trying our hardest to save our customers time and money.

In the past, customers had to pay shipping, VAT/GST and customs duties. We have eliminated 2 out of 3, so that's pretty good!

Black Elite Rings II Print E-mail

We are currently out of stock in the black color of Elite Rings II. Traditionally, clear has been our most popular color. Things changed a bit this year. Clear is much more popular in UK and Europe. And the colors are about even in the United States and Canada. Since we opened new warehouses this year in UK and Canada, we also split up the inventory. We ordered more clear than black and sent them in equal amounts to each warehouse. So, we now have a surplus of clear rings in the United States. I decided to let the black ones run out and let them re-balance. Production will be starting up again soon and the black will be back in early September.

We have plenty of both colors in stock in our UK and Canada warehouses.
